Jack Johnson

Jack Johnson
Jack died at the age of two from a certain disease.  Not sure why I did not write it down.  Will phone Aunt Helen again to get the name.  Back then what he died from, they did not have the cure for.  That particular disease caused his throat to close up.

Another thing Aunt Helen remembered was that she saw Jack's birth certificate and it had a lot of angels printed on it.

Aunt Helen described that my mother's (Ruby) personality was like her mother's (Marie).

In what most would describe my mother Ruby would be peaceful, humble, gentle, spiritual, confidential (whatever you shared with her she would not discuss with anyone else), feeble, timid, had integrity, never saying an unkind word about anyone, held her feelings inside (with my Mom she died of an aneurysm (age 55) and Marie died of a stroke) (age 59).  Both were peacemakers and sought to live in peace for themselves and those around them.

Also, Aunt Helen said my mother as a young girl hardly got upset and when she did you knew it and it did not last long.

Aunt Helen frequented Mayflower Baptist Church with her mother Marie a lot.

Shows father birthplace as Georgia.

Bennie worked for Ford Motors.

Aunt Helen shared with me that her father would always send her to go get whatever meat they needed at the meat market.  Why did he send her? because Helen, would not take any bruised meat or rotten meat from those butchers.   Aunt Helen would always speak up and speak her mind, so Grandpa could depend on her bringing back the best meat available.  My mother on the other hand, was too timid, lol.

Grandpa Bennie would share most of what was on his mind with my mother Ruby.  In fact, I remember taking a trip with her on the bus to go and see him a lot.  Mom would give him a shave and they would sit in the kitchen and talk. Remember a lot about that home.
